Blato is the oldest settlement on the Island of Korcula. Today it counts 3700 inhabitants. Although it is located inland by the fertile field, which makes it especially charming, Blato exits to the sea on both sides of the island: Prigradica on the north side and Prizba on the south side, with numerous surrounding coves, beaches and of course - apartments. Blato polje and its surrounding hills are covered in olive groves, vineyards and hundreds of kilometers of drywall - a unique monument to human labor. Winters in Blato are humid, but mild and short, while summers are dry and warm.

The cool shade will be provided by the linden avenue that is the second longest in Europe, after the Berlin one (1km long). Blato faced one of the hardest periods between the two world wars due to phylloxera (vine pest) that destroyed majority of vineyards and households, causing great emigration. At the beginning of the 20th century, Blato had almost 9000 inhabitants, only to lose 1200 inhabitants in one day in 1925 when they emigrated to Australia. Today, there are approximately 6000 Blato people and their descendants in Australia. After WW2, industry and tourism has developed in Blato again.
