Privlaka is an idyllic tourist village in the heart of Dalmatia. Located between Nin and Vir, on a peninsula that is closed off by Nin Bay on the northeast side and Zadar Canal on the southeast side. Settlements have existed here since prehistoric times. One can say that Privlaka lived the fate of nearby Nin in time of the greatest development of the first Croatian state. It was first mentioned in written documents at the end of the 13th century, and in the 15th century the Venetians translate its Croatian name into Brevilaqua. refuge for people of Zadar and Nin. The village is known for sabunjare (sand areas) that people took sand from and distributed it over the Croatian coast. It is also known for its fishermen, seafarers and vineyards. Fertile soil and large quantities of water made life possible in this area. A poet, Petar Zoranic, mentioned the well Sokolar in his 16th century work Planine (Mountains). Sokolar is one of the numerous wells in Privlaka. Accommodation is also available in hotel Laguna in the south of Privlaka and in camps. One can sense the scent of Privlaka early in the morning when the fishermen bring out freshly caught fish. During the day one can have fun in the sea, in the nature or walking around the old core that the locals call Selo (Village), surrounded by quaint Dalmatian streets. Eight kilometers from Privlaka there is also a tourist settlement of Zaton, with numerous athletic and entertainment contents. In the evening, you will be entertained by fishermen's nights and Privlaka Night, or you can relax and take a stroll on the long Privlaka promenade.
