Trogir is located approximately a thirty minute drive west of Split. The city with turbulent past, known as Little Venice and Museum City, was one of the first Greek colonies on the Adriatic coast, founded in the 3rd century BC - Tragurion. It is still one of the best preserved Romanic-Gothic cities in this part of Europe. Like entire Dalmatia, Trogir was also passed between numerous rulers during the centuries, from Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Croatians, Venetians, to French and Austrians. its favorable position between the mainland and the Island of Ciovo and a spacious protected harbor. The islet is a unique cultural monument that was included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 1997. The most significant of Trogir monuments is the Cathedral of St. Lovre with the Portal of Radovan from the 13th century, which is the most significant Medieval portal in this part of Europe. palace of the renowned Trogir family Cipiko. Ordained life has been a part of the Benedictine Monastery of St. Nicholas along the south walls for over nine centuries. One of the city symbols is kept here - the Greek relief portraying deity Kairos. At the southwest side of the island part of Trogir there is a 15th century Venetian Fortress Kamerlengo and at the northwest side there is the Tower of St. Mark. Between them is Batarija soccer field that is unique in the world because of its location (between two protected monuments).
