Tucepi is a village with somewhat less than 2000 inhabitants. There is also a village of Gornje Tucepi (Upper Tucepi) at the foot of Mt. Biokovo, where a settlement developed in the 14th century. However, after the big earthquake of 1962, people moved by the sea, to the village we now call Donje Tucepi (Lower Tucepi), or simply Tucepi. Unlike many other small villages by the sea, which are relatively quiet, Tucepi is a lively village with numerous summer events and celebrations, among which one should definitely mention fishermen's nights where guests are offered seafood specialties and klapa music.

Patron saint of the village is St. Ante, celebrated on 13th of June. That is also the start of Tucepi Summer Nights - a festival that lasts almost the entire month of June and includes various concerts and plays. Other than Bluesun hotels, Neptun, Alga, Kastelet, Afrodita and smaller boutique hotels such as Villa Marija, Villa Andrea, etc. there are also 5000 beds in private accommodation, which says quite a bit about the popularity of Tucepi. Save for apartments, during the day guests can enjoy the longest beach on the Adriatic coast, take a swim or relax in the pine forest that surrounds the

beach. Along the beach there is also a several miles long promenade, suitable for walking and biking. Guests who wish to experience rural atmosphere can visit Gornje Tucepi at the foot of Mt. Biokovo. They can discover abandoned stone houses, old Romanesque churches with typical bell towers or old Illyrian cemeteries-tumule. This is where the remains of three defensive fortresses lay - Buselic, Lalic and Saric, erected in the time of battle against the Turks. Gornje Tucepi offers a view of hundreds of meters of terraced olive groves and vineyards. The view of the sea and the nearby islands is spectacular. Tucepi is well connected with the rest of the coast and one can always visit nearby Makarska
or go somewhat further to Omis
or the Island of Hvar
