Vinisce is a small village of Trogir Riviera, situated around a deeply receded bay, 5km from the village of Marina. It's name is derived from the old Croatian word meaning "area under vineyards", and it is slightly ironic that today there are no more vineyards in this area. Less than a thousand residents of Vinisce engage primarily in tourism services, and somewhat less in fishing and agriculture. Many of the houses in Vinisce are vacation houses of those who live in Sibenik, Trogir or Split and come here to vacation or rent apartments to tourists. Vinisce was first mentioned in the 13th

In the Middle Ages the area was divided into Abbey and Diocese, or the upper mainland and the lower coastal part of the village, and the accommodation in Vinisce still has both, Mediterranean and rural setting. Ivan Duknovic, one of the most famous Croatian Renaissance sculptors of the 15th century was born in Vinisce. Among other things, he also worked on the Trogir Cathedral of St. Lovre. Historical sites of Vinisce include its most popular Church of the Blessed
