The village of Zaton is located in a natural bay, 8km northwest of Dubrovnik

aristocratic families owned summer homes here, such as Gucetic, Mencetic, Saraka, Lukarevic, Sorkocevic families, etc. Approximately 900 people live in Zaton, mostly focusing on catering and tourism, while some of them work in Dubrovnik and the surrounding areas. Some derive additional income from winemaking, agriculture and fishing. The village itself does not have any hotels and its accommodation offer consists of apartments and a motor camp. These are not just any apartments. Everyone can find an apartment in Zaton to their liking, from luxury apartments by the sea to cheaper ones.

Pebble beach is the central place of Veliki Zaton, while Mali Zaton has a concrete beach. The bay is ideal for diving, water skiing, surfing and windsurfing. Mainland offers the possibility to go for long walks, for a run or hiking in the area, up to the village of Podbrezje that is located 4.5km inland from Zaton. Gverovic-Orsan is the oldest and the most popular restaurant in Zaton, which attracts attention with its gourmet specialties and its location, seen as it is located in what was once boat storage in a tunnel shaped rock with the terrace right by the sea.
