Zivogosce is a village with somewhat less than 600 inhabitants that also includes three smaller villages: Porat, Mala Duba and Blato, which are very close to each other. Zivogosce was first mentioned in the 13th century, although a settlement existed in its place already in the 5th century. This is witnessed by the famous Licinian epigram consisting of 16 hexameters, found on a cliff near the freshwater spring. In the epigram, he praises this very spring. Zivogosce also has the Franciscan Monastery with a nice Baroque painting of St. Cross, built in the 17th century, torn down and rebuilt in the

20th century. Zivogosce has developed in the past forty years or so, with the development of tourism in this area. The guests will not find a lively nightlife here, nor will they see lively streets. Those who decide to visit this little jewel on the Adriatic Coast can enjoy romantic walks along the lengthy pebble beaches, admire unforgettable sunsets and fully experience the benefits of the Adriatic Sea. This place is ideal for such type of vacation - a vacation far from overcrowded beaches. Other than hotels Nimfa and Punta and motor camp Dole, there are many private apartments here, as

well as many solitary lots suitable for nudist vacation. Majority of locals offer apartments in Zivogosce. Zivogosce is located 80km from Split, 20km from Makarska, 130km from Dubrovnik, 39km from Medugorje and 52km from Mostar. It is surrounded by the islands of Brac, Hvar and Korcula, and in the summer it is well connected to the islands. Mt. Biokovo is located north of the village and a stroll along the old trails will discover beautiful old stone Dalmatian houses and villages which are long forgotten and abandoned, while hikers will surely like to continue on to Sutvid Peak at the altitude of 1155m. The proximity of Bacina Lakes (27km) and almost untouched nature are reason enough for Zivogosce to be such a desirable destination.
